Lindi Formation

Lindi Fm

Period:
Carboniferous

Age Interval:
C21 (51), late Early Carboniferous

Province:
Fujian

Type Locality and Naming

The type section is located at Lindi Village, Chishui Township, Zhangping, Fujian. It was named by the Fujian Party of Regional Geological Surveying in 1965.

Lithology and Thickness

Conglomerate to Siltstone. Dominated by yellow-white quartz conglomerate, sandstone-conglomerate and grit, intercalated with quartz sandstone and purple-red siltstone, forming a cycle from coarse-grained to fine. 150−570 m thick.

With Qingliu-Liancheng-Shanghang as the boundary, west of which the formation is often intercalated with carbonaceous shale, coal streaks and thin coal seams, similar with the Zishan Fm in southern Jiangxi; while east of which coal streaks are rarely seen, but it is often intercalated with ferrigenous sandstone and siltstone.

Lithology Pattern:
Sandstone
